I.  Sharing Sessions

Sharing Sessions and Standing Committees usually meet on the 4th Saturday (3rd Sat in December). Most of these meetings are interpreted in Spanish and English, so please bring your FM radios. (not necessary if we meet online). The Area Committee Meeting (interpreted in English & Spanish) begins at 12:30 p.m. with the goal of ending at 3:30 pm.

We have three Sharing Sessions at the monthly Area Committee Meeting:  DCMC (closed), DCM (open), and Literature/ Grapevine/ La Viña (open).  The Area Officer for Literature facilitates the Literature/Grapevine/La Viña Sharing Session.  The Assembly Coordinator facilitates the DCM Sharing Session.

Voting Members

Area Committee Meeting (ACM)

Voting members at the Area Committee Meeting are Area Officers, DCMCs, and DCMs.

Area Assemblies

Voting members at the Area Assemblies are GSRs, DCMCs, DCMs, and Area Officers (or their alternates).  Map and location information is above.

The DCMC Sharing Session meets as a Closed Meeting of the District Committee Meeting Chairs of each District and/or their Alternate DCMC.

The DCM Sharing Session is a hybrid meeting facilitated by an Area Officer, usually by the Assembly Coordinator. Meetings are open to all AA Members, and anyone may participate. Most of the attendees have been elected to serve for a panel as a District Committee Member in their home Districts, but GSRs and other trusted servants also enjoy attending. Topics pertain to helping the GSR help their group. Therefore this meeting is useful to the DCMs, with ideas for supporting the GSRs in their home District. Minutes and some of the topics of the DCM Sharing Sessions can be found listed as a menu item in the About CNCA tab on the website.

The Literature/Grapevine/La Viña Sharing Session  meets as an Open Meeting for any AA member who wishes to attend. It is facilitated by the Literature/Grapevine/La Viña Chair of the Area Committee. Attendees often hold a Literature/Grapevine/La Viña position in their home District or home group.  This meeting is interpreted in Spanish and English, so please bring your FM radios.

II  Standing Committees

Standing Committees are those Committees not having a similarly related District component. Their focus is directed to serve the Area as a whole. Positions on these Committees are appointed by the incoming Area Officers of each panel.

The Finance Committee is appointed by the Area Officers. Its members traditionally have served in Area General Service as District Committee Member Chairs (DCMCs) or as a District Committee Member (DCM). The Area Treasurer attends the Committee’s monthly meetings but does not serve as Chair. The Finance Committee Chair is elected by Committee members in a Third Legacy Process. The Committee’s monthly meetings are closed; non-members are invited to participate on the Committee’s agenda topics. The Finance Committee reports back to the Area as a whole. Chair email: See Contact Us Page.

The Interpretation and Translation Committee (I&T Committee) is appointed by the Area Officers and its members elect a Chair in a Third Legacy Process. The I&T Committee provides the Area both verbal interpretation and written translation in English and Spanish. Verbal interpretation services are provided at Area Committee Meetings, Area Assemblies and other Area events. Participants at these events are encouraged to bring FM radios with ear buds or headphones. American Sign Language interpretation is also provided at the Delegate’s Report at the Post Conference Assembly on request. Written translation of written documents for the Area is provided in English and Spanish. The Committee meets at 11:00 A.M. on the same day as the Area Committee Meeting. This Committee’s monthly meeting is open and any A.A. member is invited to attend. Chair email: See Contact Us Page.

The Website Committee is appointed by the Area Officers and its members elect a Chair in a Third Legacy process. The Committee meets online to outline the tasks of updating and editing the CNCA06.org website. Most of this work by members is done outside of its meeting time. This Committee’s monthly meeting is open and any A.A. member is invited to attend. Website Chair email: See Contact Us Page.

The Technology Committee is appointed by the Area Officers and its members elect a Chair in a Third Legacy process. The Committee assists the Area and its Officers with emerging technologies and helping usher our Area into the 21st century. The Committee’s Hybrid Team produces the Area’s in person and online (hybrid) Area Committee Meetings and quarterly Assemblies. The Committee oversees the Area’s technology hardware and software inventory and produces presentations and Workshops to assist members on how to understand and be familiar with technology use in A.A. Tech Chair email: See Contact Us Page.

III.  Sub-Committees

The members of the Sub-Committees are not appointed by Area Officers but are usually connected to District Committees with the same purpose. These members serving in the related position make up the composition of the Sub-Committee. Meetings are open to all AA members. Please bring your FM radios for interpretation in Spanish and English.

The Accessibilities Committee is a volunteer committee dedicated to collecting and sharing information that can increase awareness of existing barriers to AA and increase the accessibility of the AA program to people who need its life-saving message. You may contact the chair here.

The Area Archives Committee is composed of Committee Officers (elected in a Third Legacy process by the committee), District Archivists (who serve their district in an archives position), and other AA members who participate in its work on a regular basis. You may contact the chair here.

The Bridging the Gap Committee is attended by the District Bridging the Gap Chairs. Any interested member of AA may attend, as the meetings are open. You may contact the chair here.

The Public Information/Communication with the Professional Community (PI/CPC) Committee is attended by people in the Districts doing the work of the Public Information and Cooperation with the Professional Community. The meeting is facilitated by the Alternate Delegate of the Area. It is an open meeting which may be attended by any AA member. Interpretation is provided, so please bring your FM radios. You may contact the chair here.
